Welcome to WEA Southern Region

Everyone is welcome!

Learning with the WEA is exciting and rewarding. Our courses are organised for adults and are usually informal and friendly. You will be welcomed to our class and your views and experience will be valued. For many of our courses you can come along to the first meeting without obligation. We offer people the opportunity to study with knowledgeable tutors and friendly fellow class members and we encourage students to have a say in the planning of their own learning. We know that adults bring a wide range of skills and experience to the class. Our tutors help to direct that experience and knowledge to support the learning that takes place in the class.

Our new, online enrolment system is live! Book the course of your choice online and pay by debit or credit card.
(Day School booking only available by local branch.)

Courses for everyone

WEA courses cover a very wide range of subjects to help you learn something that has always interested you or alternately that helps you progress in work or address a particular need that you have at the moment. Click here to see the different subjects on offer or go to the course search if you have a particular course in mind.

There is a choice of weekly courses between 5 and 20 weeks long, daytime, evening or weekend. There are also single day activities some of which link together into more substantial learning programmes. Whether you want to develop an interest or hobby or gain essential skills such as improving your English we may be able to help.

Classes may be run through local branches, our community outreach programme or through the workplace. We have over 90 branches in the southern region all supported by local volunteers! The WEA is the largest voluntary provider of adult education in the United Kingdom so if you would like to support our work by becoming a member click here

Information and Advice

As part of our provision, WEA Southern Region provides information to all students who enrol on our courses. If in our discussion with you the course best suited to you is with another educational provider such as a local college, we will provide you with all the information to take that next step. Please click here for information about the Careers Advice Service, nextstep and other organisations that can help you find an appropriate course. Most WEA courses are free to people who receive a means tested benefit or Job Seekers allowance, and to their unwaged dependents. Some courses are externally funded and free to all learners. Other courses charge a fee in accordance with regional policy, which should be paid within two weeks of the start of the course.
